So, we made it through our first October in what is the busiest time of the year for bed and breakfasts in the area. It was great to participate in all the local activities such as SIU homecoming, Color Fest, Vulture Fest and we met many new friends. Last night we ended the month with the annual Halloween Chili Cookoff in Makanda. It was a nice way to unwind with neighbors and eat some warm chili. Our friend Kim took first prize out of 14 chilli’s entered and won an amazing t shirt for her efforts! I made a Chili Quiche for the first time which I think will tweak in the future! There were about 50-60 people and I think everyone brought there dogs, it was chaos. I’m looking forward to November and making Grandma’s Famous Dressing Recipe for Thanksgiving!
